Which games should I analyze as Volume 3 enters the home stretch?
Dear Reader,
This past Sunday, after working practically around the clock to catch up from losing ~5 hours of footage thanks to my crappy video recording and editing software, I realized I’d been writing (and recording, and editing) so much that I hadn’t done any pleasure gaming1 in weeks.
So I fired up my trusty ole’ Switch, and happened upon a game called “Ring of Pain” on the eShop. While playing it, I saw that it had enough symbolism on the Shadow Self (only with a neat twist, which I won’t spoil for you) that I could’ve featured it this week.
And then I realized—there are a lot of games that depict the psychological concepts we’ve been learning about, yet I keep going back to the same three-to-four games. This now seems both unfair and a borderline disservice to you, my reader.
Why? Because I’m giving you an incomplete picture in a supposed “survey” on the video games dealing with the subject. The word “survey” implies a degree of thoroughness that just hasn’t been the case lately.
So as we move on to our next two subtopics, I wanted to pose the question to you, dear reader: which game(s) would you like me to analyze in the coming weeks? We’ve only got four or so issues left in Volume 3!
The four topics still left to cover are (in order):
